We have raised hogs for quite a few years, and our organically raised pork is the best we have ever eaten!!!
So we have been contemplating getting some breeding stock, so we can raise our own rather than having to find a feeder pig somewhere else.
We are rather picky when it comes to which breed we raise....
~Heritage Only~ Why would you get less than the best?
So we did our research, paired with previous experience of the heritage crosses we had, and decided on which breeds in which we were interested.

This is what we came up with!
Meet Arnie!! He is a pure Tamworth Boar!!!
The Tamworth breed is known for being long and lean... Do you know what that means???
LOTS AND LOTS OF BACON!!!!!
Did I say that out loud? Oh well!!! He is such a funny pig to watch, and as you can tell, he LOVES his veggies!!!
He is HUGE!!!
Like, so big I think we should call him FERDINAND!
Then he needed a girl....or three......
Let me explain the sheep looking things!
They are in fact a pig, in all ways. They are just unique, and they aren't even related to sheep... I like to call them....
A Pig In Sheeps Clothing!!!
They are called Mangalista Pigs.
May I mention that they are considered the Kobe of pork?!!
They are known for their meat being marbled so wonderfully, and the leaf lard is the best!
The black one, Berkie, is my favorite!
Well that may be because she always asks for a tummy rub when she sees me.....
but then it may be the fact that she had piglets last night....
but we can talk about that later...
She is a Berkshire.
Known for being all around great pigs, their meat is pretty amazing as well.
Oh yeah! The piglets!!!
Oh how I love seeing new life!
We got 9 sweet little bacon bits, all born healthy and going strong!
