Faithful is He that called you

Faithful: (1. Loyal, consistent, steadfast. (2. True to the facts or the original.

Some of you may ask what is God faithful in? He is faithful in keeping his word and promises. He is faithful in loving us. He is faithful in being God, and He is faithful in helping us when we ask Him. When we are struggling with sin and going through hard times God is faithful in listening to our prayers. Now that doesn't mean he is necessarily going to give us what we want, but it does mean that he listens, and gives us what we need.

God is also faithful in his goodness and through Him we can be good (holy, righteous, and just)

1 Thessalonians 5:21 Prove all things; hold fast to that which is good.

What I want to focus on though is the next three verses.

v. 22-24 Abstain from all appearances of evil. And the very God of peace sanctify you wholly; and I pray God your whole spirit and soul and body be preserved blameless unto the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ. Faithful is He that called you, Who also will do it.

God is faithful in helping us abstain (restraining oneself from doing or enjoying something) From all appearances of evil! Now we all know some of the more prominent forms of evil, but there are some that people either 1. don't think is evil or 2. don't know is evil.

Some of these are...

Coveting (wanting something someone else has) Exodus 20:17

Immodesty (dressing in a way that shows off your body) 1 Corinthians 6: 19-20

Idolatry ( Having another god before Jesus which could be sports, nature, animals, or anything else for that matter) Exodus 20: 3-4

Porn- This is one that many people (including pastors) overlook. Porn is very damaging not only to your life, but also the lives of those you love. Matthew 5:28

These are just a few, there are many more. My point is that God will help us overcome the sin in our lives, no matter what it is. All you have to do is pray and ask him!

God is FAITHFUL! Depend on his faithfulness!
